When the 2013 football season began, only two of the original eight Big East football members remained in the conference (and only because Temple returned from imposed exile). Every head coach who took his school to a BCS game -- or even won a share of the Big East title in the BCS era -- has left the conference or announced plans to do so (though WVU's Dana Holgerson took his team with him), with the exception of UConn's Paul Pasqualoni... who went to a BCS game with Syracuse back in 1998 (and was fired early in the 2013 season).

Even the 2012 4-way tie for the Big East tilte did not stop this trend; Syracuse's Doug Marrone and the Orange joined the ACC, and Charlie Strong's Cardinals will in 2014. Kyle Flood's Rutgers team somehow was invited to join the Big Ten. And while the Bearcats seem stuck in the Big East (for now), Butch Jones has departed for Tennessee.
